About Punjabitype.com

Empowering Punjab's next generation of government servants.

Punjabitype.com is a free, browser-based Punjabi typing practice platform designed specifically for candidates preparing for Punjab government typing examinations — including PSSSB (Punjab Subordinate Service Selection Board) clerk posts, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences data entry operator roles, Chandigarh Administration typist exams, and Punjab Police clerical positions.

The platform was built out of a genuine need: most available Punjabi typing tools either use outdated ASCII-based fonts (like Satluj or Asees) that are incompatible with modern operating systems, or they fail to correctly render complex Gurmukhi conjuncts and vowel combinations when highlighting individual characters. We built Punjabitype.com from scratch with a custom Unicode Gurmukhi grapheme parser to ensure that every character displayed in the typing test is visually correct — no broken matras, no split conjuncts, no rendering artifacts.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: give every Punjab government job aspirant access to a world-class, free typing practice environment. We believe that the quality of practice tools should not be a barrier between a candidate and their dream job.

What Makes Us Different?

  • True Unicode Raavi font — All practice text is rendered in the official Raavi font used in actual Punjab government typing examinations.
  • PSSSB-accurate grading — Our scoring engine implements the official PSSSB grading scheme: full mistakes (1.0) for character errors, half mistakes (0.5) for spacing errors, with a minimum qualifying standard of 30 net WPM and 92% accuracy.
  • Gurmukhi-aware character segmentation — Unlike generic typing tools, our platform understands Gurmukhi Unicode shaping rules. Characters like ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ are treated as single grapheme clusters, never split at incorrect boundaries.
  • Multiple timed modes — Practice with 1-minute warm-ups, 5-minute intermediate sessions, or full 10-minute exam simulations.
  • Error profiler — After each test, review a detailed breakdown of which characters you mistype most frequently so you can focus your practice where it matters.

The Standard We Follow

All keyboard mappings on Punjabitype.com conform to IS 16350:2016 — the Bureau of Indian Standards specification for Indian language keyboards (InScript layout). This is the same standard mandated for official Punjab government typing tests.
